My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Rancho San Lorenzo. The Rancho is located about a ten minutes walk outside the city of Huautla. There is a quarter mile trail walk into the cloud forest to get to there. The place is absolutely beautiful, fantastic, and amazing! The facilities are primitive. The Earth Yurts/Cabanas are nicely made and comfortable. There are composting toilets and cold water showers, hot water is available for washing upon request. There is a communal kitchen on the property and that is where the magic happens. We were served tasty organic cooked meals every day. This Rancho produces all of its own food to include a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, too many to mention in this review. The Lady of the house did the cooking and she did not disappoint. She is also a plant teacher and healer. Here cooking was nothing short of excellent, every single meal. There was always wonderful coffee on the stove as well as a variety of delicious herbal teas. My gut health has never been as good as it was while I was living on the Rancho. The Rancho is home to over sixty different varieties of orchids. Fruit trees and flowering plants abound. Just being on the property brings a peace and calmness to the body and mind that was much appreciated. If you really want to get off the grid and go organic and live a primitive life in the high altitude Oaxacan cloud forest, this is the place. I'll remember my stay forever. Love.

I had a very good stay on rancho San Lorenzo. It's located in the woods, but has all the basic alimentaries. The cabaña was very clean and comfortable. It was a magical experience falling asleep and waking up by the sound of the forest. There is hot shower and coffee in the morning too.

I booked this place last minute, and from the get-go, Aida was incredibly responsive and maintained great communication with me. I took an overnight bus and arrived in Huautla at 6 a.m., and Aida was ready to welcome me. From the moment I stepped into the cabaña, I felt right at home. It was clean, beautiful, well equipped, and cozy. Honestly, I fell in love with this place, there was something so raw and genuine about this place. I stayed for three nights but easily could’ve stayed longer. I loved being surrounded by nature and feeling tucked away—yet everything I needed was within walking distance. Just a heads-up: if you have mobility issues or struggle with inclines, there is a slight uphill walk to get to the main road. But aside from that, everything else was absolutely amazing. Don’t overthink it book this place! You’ll be so glad you did.

Aida and her family have created a wonderful eco retreat on their ancestral land in the forest just outside Huautla. They are great hosts and also cook delicious, health and organic food! Highly recommended! Just be aware it’s a short hike/walk into the place on an unpaved path.

Staying at Rancho San Lorenzo was an absolute delight! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home. The cabaña was not only beautifully designed but also immaculately clean, which is something I truly appreciate. The attention to detail was outstanding, and it was clear that Aida and her family had thought of everything to make my stay comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the little touches like fresh flowers and a welcome dinner were a lovely surprise. The location couldn't have been better - close to the town making it easy to explore the area. Communication with Aida was smooth and easy, and they were always quick to respond to any questions or requests I had. I can't recommend Doña Carmen highly enough. It truly enhanced my travel experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future. Thank you for being such a fantastic host.

This is an amzing place! Super sweet warm and kind hearted family that will nurture you with all the heart in their simple lovely ranch! Carmen takes care to feed all day with most delicious and nutrious food and many fruits that grow in the place. She is a healer as well and if wanted can offer ceramonies and healing plus to the good energies of the place that do good by themselves. I feel like my soul and heart and body got the hug and nurture they needed before moving on! The cabins are simple yet cozy and comfortable plus they have super sweet 2 dogs that will walk with you wherever. 10-15 min walk away from town(closer than it appears on google maps-no need for taxi) and surrounded by nuch nature! Absolute amazing place worth any penny and much more than money

Very helpful, friendly and nice owners. She helped me every time to make a fire when I cook. I stayed in the treehouse and it was very warm inside. The nature that surrounds it is truly enchanting and life there is absolutely great.

I spent three weeks at Aida's cabin and it was truly a remarkable experience. The cabin is at the end of the property, among trees, with a surreal view of the forest ahead. It is completely private and very cozy: clean, made with love and perfect for a retreat. Aida and her family are lovely, always attentive and willing to help. I felt protected during my stay. More than a place to stay, it is a space of deep connection, which integrates you into the village and makes you feel at home.
